Description
Control distortion separately in the low, mid, and high bands, with draggable crossovers and band solo/mute. Blend two editable ten-point waveshaping curves with smooth, hard, or stepped segments.
Choose Direct, Tube, Tape, Hard, Fold, or Digital character. Input filtering and nine output filter modes shape the result, while Scream, Instability, and a switchable Afterburn tail add resonance, movement, and space.
Start with 144 factory presets in Utility, Warm, Aggressive, and Digital categories. Variation explores new combinations; custom sounds save as .burnshape presets. The distortion engine uses fixed 4x oversampling, wet/dry Mix, stereo meters, and output protection. Auto Match adjusts gain gradually; it does not guarantee exact perceived-loudness matching.
Activate once online with your Gumroad licence key, then use the saved activation offline without recurring checks, device binding, subscriptions, or an activation-count limit. Unactivated copies pass dry audio. A new computer/account or deleted activation receipt requires reactivation. Audio, presets, and DAW projects are not uploaded during activation.

Requirements
macOS 12 or later: universal Apple Silicon/Intel AU and VST3, Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized, and stapled. Standalone is not included.
Windows: a 64-bit host supporting x64 VST3, plus Microsoft Visual C++ v14 x64 Redistributable version 14.44 or later.
The Windows VST3 is unsigned. Native build and automated licensing tests passed, but native Windows DAW and minimum-OS qualification remain unverified. Security software may warn or block it; do not disable protections. Contact support if blocked.
First activation requires internet and the licence key from your Gumroad purchase. Offline-first activation is not available. Do not share licence keys or activation receipts.
Installation
- Download the ZIP for your operating system from Gumroad. Unzip it and read the included installation guide; there is no installer.
- macOS: copy the complete .component bundle to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components for AU, or the complete .vst3 bundle to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 for VST3.
- Windows: install the required Microsoft Visual C++ v14 x64 Redistributable (14.44 or later), then copy the complete .vst3 bundle to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\. If security software blocks the unsigned plugin, contact support; do not disable protections.
- Restart or rescan plug-ins in your DAW and add BurnShaper as an audio effect. Open the information button beside BURNSHAPER, choose Licence, and activate online with your Gumroad licence key.
- Once activation is saved, the plugin works offline. Re-activate on a new computer/account or if the activation receipt is deleted.
